It was two years ago, on February 1st, 2003, that the space shuttle Columbia and all of her crew were lost in a fiery explosion while re-entering the earth's atmosphere after 15 days, 22 hours and 20 minutes in space.
Ilan Ramon, the payload specialist on this flight, was Israel's first astronaut. In 1981, IAF Col. Ilan Ramon flew one of the F-16 jets that blew up the Iraqi nuclear reactor in Osirak. In so doing he saved the country and perhaps the entire world from the specter of a nuclear holocaust.
Ramon made clear at every opportunity that he went to outer space, not simply as a citizen of the State of Israel, but as a Jew.
And as a Jew he told the Prime Minister from his celestial perch,

Aliyah: Immigration to Israel - Why aren't all the Jews here??? February 3, 2005 11:27 |
Most Jews know that it is commanded in the Torah for Jews to settle the Land of Israel. If so, then why aren't all of the Torah-observant Jews in the world flocking to Israel? Especially those amongst the five-million-plus Jews living today in America. If you ask them, many will say that they are excused from moving to Israel (making Aliyah) by virtue of reasons of Jewish Law (halacha). Is it really so? In this edition of The Marty Roberts Show, Marty explains a bit about the requirement for a Jew to live in Israel, and what are the TRUE "excuses", according to Jewish Law, for NOT doing so.

The Demographic Time Bomb Facing Israel.....Or is it???? February 3, 2005 19:47 |
In 1997, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) published a study that sent fear into the heeart of Israelis. The study stated that by the year 2015, the Arab population west of the Jordan River (Israel's side!!!) will outnumber the Jewish population. The significance of these numbers is in the fact that the Arabs would win the war without firing a shot. By outnumbering the Jews in a democratic state, they could take over the government and destroy the Jewish State of Israel.
Based on these "facts", the israeli government, under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. has made some rather extreme, fateful decisions to try to stem the bleeding by abandoning Jewish areas of the Land of Israel where large numbers of Arabs live. This would necessitate removing more than 8000 Jews from their towns, villages and homes, some of them having lived there for MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS!!!
This is the basis of the "Disengagement Plan" of Ariel Sharon. Although he knows that it is wrong, he justifies it on the basis of this doomsday demographic scenario.
The only problem is......
The numbers were wrong!!!!!!!! as was proven in a recently released study in America.

A Real Jewish Hero: Jonathan Pollard February 4, 2005 12:44 |
Several weeks ago, Jonathan Pollard spent his 1,000th Shabbat (Sabbath) in prison. In the mid-1980's, Jonathan came upon information vital to Israel's security interests, threatening the loss of countless Jewish lives. America was in violation of her agreements with Israel by NOT sharing this information. Jonathan saw the need to save hundreds, if not thousands of Jewish lives by sharing this information with Israel, America's ALLY, not her enemy.
He did so, and was later discovered. He never stood trial, since he entered a plea bargain, which was subsequently IGNORED by the American system.
He has been wasting away in American prison ever since. 
Never, ever has such a harsh sentence been carried out against someone accused of spying for an enemy of America, let alone one of her best allies.
Aldrich Ames who spied for an enemy nation (the Soviet Union), committed treason, and was responsible for the deaths of at least 11 American agents, received the same sentence as Jonathan Pollard. Pollard's only indictment was one count of passing classified information to an ally.
On November 21, 2004, Jonathan Pollard entered the 20th year of his life sentence, with no end in sight.

Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, Chief Rabbi of the Israeli community of Beit El and Head of the Ateret Cohanim Yeshiva in The Old City of Jerusalem, has been, and continues to be one of Jonathan's most outspoken supporters. He expresses shock and outrage that Jonathan's cause has not been more widely acknowledged.
Rabbi Aviner composed a beautiful tribute to Jonatahn Pollard, based on Biblical/Torah references, which Marty Roberts presents on this edition of "The Marty Roberts Show".

It was a stormy, windy, bitter cold Shabbat (Sabbath) in Israel this 5th of February, the 26th of the Jewish month of Shevat.
Marty surveys what's been happening in Israel these days, including several successful terror attacks, and some that were prevented by the Israeli Army.
He also talks about hopes and fears regarding the greatly anticipated up-coming meeting in Egypt this week between Ariel Sharon and Abu Abbas of the PLO.
There's even some time for a bit of Torah/Bible study, as Marty shares with you some insights from this weekly reading as you know only he can.

Today's big news in the Middle East was the four-way meeting in Sharm e-Sheik, Egypt. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon first met one-on-one with newly elected Palestinian Authority Head Mahmoud Abbus, aka Abu Mazzen. They were then joined by host, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek and King Abdullah II of Jordan.
Marty talks about the implications of the statements made by the leaders at the close of their meetings.

Hamas leader Osama Hamada in Damascus: We are not bound by Sharm declarations and ceasefire. After summit, Palestinian FM Shaath stressed: We did not discuss dismantling terrorist infrastructure, only internal pact for truce and protection of fugitive terrorists for whom jobs available with Palestinian Authority.

In May, 2003, when the Israeli government under the leadership of Ariel Sharon approved the "Road Map for Peace in the Middle East", the Cabinet made it contingent upon 14 "comments" that Israel submitted to the Americans. These "red lines" for Israel seem to have been forgotten by Ariel Sharon in his rush to surrender to his Arab enemies. Marty gives him a little "reminder" in this show.
As if one roadmap were not enough, word has it that U.S. Secretary of State Rice was carrying ANOTHER map in her purse on her recent visit to Israel and the Middle East. Dov Weisglas is probably the second most powerful figure in Israel, second only to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. As Special Advisor to Sharon, Weisglas created and engineered the plan to expel some 10,000 Jews from their homes and destroy their communities in Israeli Gaza and the Northern Shomron. He is responsible for negotiations with the PLO AND the United States, representing Israel and speaking for the Prime Minister, Sharon.
Marty uncovers serious financial conflicts of interest in Weisglas' role regarding the Palestinian Casino in Jericho and the soon-to-be-abandoned (Heaven forbid!!) Jewish communities in Gaza. And Weisglas is not the only one....

From Syria openly allying with Iran to wanted terrorists donning police uniforms, current events here, in the Middle East, can only be described as "surreal"!
How else can you explain the hiring, by the Palestinian Authority, of fugitive terrorists to work as uniformed, armed policemen.
And, of course, who is pay rolling the salaries? The United States and the European Union!! And NO ONE is even blinking an eye!!! (except me, maybe)
Also...high-level meetings and statements of unity in Teheran. Syria and Iran are forming a new strategic alliance of mutual defense against, who else? The United States and Israel!!!

Israel plunges on, full speed ahead, releasing terrorists from jail, seemingly oblivious to the possible destructive results of such useless gestures...even as her enemies openly announce that the bloodshed MUST continue, in spite of such meaningless gestures...
Also, the new leader of the Palestinian Authority can't seem to get enough support from his own alleged supporters to form a government!!!! How can he be expected to fight terrorism and protect Israel?? (EVEN if he REALLY wanted to, which, of course, he probably doesn't!!)
